Melton Mowbray Town Estate

Primary Objectives

The primary objectives for the Town Estate are:-

1. The preservation and maintenance of the assets of the Estate. This consists of the land holdings and parks, the trees and other vegetation therein, river and canal banks and the associated buildings belonging to the Estate.
2. The supervision of the investment managers charged with the generation of income from and the maintenance of the capital value of the Estate's Permanent Endowment.
3. The secondary support of the advancement of amateur sport in the provision of sporting facilities. To extend this concept to include facilities for youth.

Secondary Objectives

The secondary objectives for the Town Estate are:-

1. The optimisation of the trading activities to provide the funding to enable the primary objectives to be achieved, and to meet its other costs.
2. In its trading activities with third parties the Town Estate needs to be mindful of third parties ability to pay. The Town Estate needs to ensure that remuneration is fair and equitable to both sides. Hence it may be convenient to charge sports organisations a commercial rate for the service but to rebate part of that charge to their sports activities.
3. Compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.
4. Maintain a suitable workforce who are motivated and trained to perform their duties competently and safely.
