Gilbert M P King Commemorative Stained Glass WindowGilbert King was born in Long Clawson on 21st May 1927 and died 7th October 1990. He was an organist at Asfordby Church from the age of 14 and later became assistant organist at St. Mary’s. He was school master, historian, musician, townwarden, feoffee and church warden of St. Mary’s during his lifetime. Along with the commemorative window in the West Wall that was donated by church members and towns-people, there is a dedication to his memory for his services to the town on the Butter Cross, as he was instrumental in getting it reinstated.
